Choosing a doula is a personal and meaningful decision. At New Wave Rejuvenation, we make the process simple, clear, and supportive from the very first step. Below you’ll find quick answers on how to get started, what to expect, and how we determine whether we’re the right fit for your birth journey.
Please reach us at support@newwavesllc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
A doula is a guardian of the mother’s nervous system and an advocate for her humanity.
We are trained support professionals who walk with a woman physically, emotionally, and spiritually through pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum.
But the essence of a doula is even deeper than that.
A doula holds space in rooms where women are often unheard. We protect the sacredness of birth, help families make informed decisions, and make sure a mother is never navigating the most vulnerable moment of her life alone. We translate medical terminology into human language, we support the partner, we anchor the atmosphere, and we stand in the gap when the world gets loud.
A doula is the steady breath in the storm.
Myth 1: “Doulas replace doctors or midwives.”
No. We don’t replace anyone — we enhance the care team. We focus on emotional, physical, and informational support, not clinical tasks.
Myth 2: “A doula is only for ‘natural’ births.”
Not true. We support hospital births, epidurals, inductions, C-sections, VBACs — all of it.
Birth has many paths, and a doula is there for every single one.
Myth 3: “A doula is a luxury.”
Support is not a luxury.
In a country where 84% of maternal deaths are preventable, it’s a necessity.
Myth 4: “Doulas are opinionated or disruptive.”
A skilled doula protects peace, not disrupts it. We collaborate, communicate, and uplift the medical team while centering the mother’s
A doula is a bridge — not a barrier.
Doctors manage clinical care. Nurses monitor the mother. Midwives guide the physiology of birth.
A doula ensures:
We work with the team, not against them. I often say, “A doula brings the humanity back into the medical experience.” When a doula is present, outcomes improve, tension lowers, and the room becomes more cohesive.
I lead with cultural humility and active listening. I never assume — I ask. I honor language, rituals, fears, traditions, and the lived experiences each family brings.
As a Black woman, I understand the layers of bias that impact us:
So I advocate intentionally:
Every family deserves support that reflects their identity, not erases it.

To get started, please send an inquiry email through the contact form on our website. Once received, you’ll receive the appropriate intake information sheet to complete. This helps us understand your needs, preferences, and stage of pregnancy. After your form is submitted, we’ll schedule a consultation to begin your onboarding process.
After reviewing your completed intake form, we’ll set up your consultation—either in person or via Zoom. This meeting allows us to discuss your birth goals, support preferences, and any questions you may have. It also gives me the opportunity to explain my approach to prenatal, labor, and postpartum support so you feel confident moving forward.
Your consultation serves as a mutual fit session. The doula relationship is deeply personal, and it’s important that you feel safe, supported, and aligned with the energy of your care team. During our meeting, we’ll explore whether my services, style, and availability match your needs. If we both feel aligned, we’ll proceed with securing your spot on the birth calendar and completing the service agreement.
